That video is from someone in Chicago. I get similar results on the East Coast. If you talk to some engineers differences between the variant of LTE Verizon and At&t are deploying out now and HSPA+ 42 are negligible. In fact, HSPA+ 42 delivers LOWER latency. It's a different animal than plain old HSPA+ 14 which at&t calls their 4G.

There's also more people and more traffic on the T-Mobile HSPA+ network than the Verizon LTE network. Verizon themselves said they only had 5% of their customers on LTE while T-Mobile had 40% pulling on HSPA+ bandwidth.

Re: In Race to Beat iPhone, One Android Weighs In

HSPA+ 42 beats LTE is a lot of scenarios.
Also, only 5% of Verizon customers are hogging that LTE bandwidth while 40% of T-Mobile subscribers are sucking down on that HSPA+ from new 42mbps devices to 3G 7.2mbps phones, they are all sucking on the same pipe.

When Verizon LTE adoption increases, expect speeds to be on par with T-Mobile HSPA+ 42 expect you are paying a lot more and have less battery life and coverage with Verizon.

Re: Keeping Close Track of Chats, Word for Word

and im worsted then mi creations D.4m

Re: In Race to Beat iPhone, One Android Weighs In

as Fire demonstrated in the tablets' market ONLY a VERY low price (less than half or so) may help to compete with Apple

Re: In Race to Beat iPhone, One Android Weighs In

Can I expect AT&T HTC ONE X, to download data faster?

Re: In Race to Beat iPhone, One Android Weighs In

It's probably worth mentioning that there are other distinguishing features between Sprint's version and T-Mobile's version. The Sprint version has an SD card slot to increase memory capacity as well as a larger, longer life battery.

I'm also curious, when you were comparing the photo capabilities between the iPhone and HTC One S, were you looking at the resulting photos on the same computer monitor or were you using each phone's screen to view the final picture? Because the iPhone has a much better display then the HTC one S display. The One S has a terrible pentile display compared to both, the One X and the iphone 4s. So if the photos that the HTC took still looked better even on its own display then they must be
remarkably better.
Finally, since you brought up the iPhone, it's worth noting that at least the HTC phones have the option of 4G on some carriers. With an iPhone you're stuck on slow networks no matter which carrier you choose. It's worth noting since you seem so concerned network speeds.

Re: In Race to Beat iPhone, One Android Weighs In

That's not correct, Jimmy. You like Android? Great. More Android phones for you. BTW, how could you, in the same paragraph, state that more than half of all smartphone users are on Android, then say you didn't want what everyone else had?As for this discovery, the sales are bearing this out. Apple keeps selling millions of phone and tablets and people like taking free Android phones offered with haircuts and passing up on Android tablets.

Re: In Race to Beat iPhone, One Android Weighs In

WOW! This is still an Apple-centric blog. First, how is the iPhone 4S the "gold standard" for photos. There are numerous Android phones with better contrast ratios, lighting, pixel density and anything else you can think of in terms of photography. Let's keep it realy though. It's still a phone. Another point. How does Android have an identity problem when more than half of all smartphone users are on Android? It sound to mee like they have an identity and Apple is trying to figure out how to diversify it's product line. "Oh, which phone do you have?" "an iPhone" "What are you going to upgrade to?" "an iPhone" That's the lemming mentality of most iOS users. When I first started to look for a smart phone a few years ago, I looked at the iPhone and quickly decided that I didn't want what everyone else had. I had never heard of Android. I looked at BlackBerry's too. I picked a Droid. It was fast, had a fantastic camera and I could make the phone do all kinds of things that and iPhone could never do and still can't. It was if someone said "hey, let's let the user be important." I'm glad the author likes the One series. Slowly, the media and bloggers are discovering that Apple is not The One. Users (not the lemmings) figured it out a long time ago. - End rant.

Re: In Race to Beat iPhone, One Android Weighs In

I have seen HTC one but not this one shown here....no doubt this is awesome phone.... but I have seen people still mad for iPhone 4S, not even in US but even in countries where it is still to launch...people wish for iPhone 4s...this kind of madness I still have to see for any other phone

Re: In Race to Beat iPhone, One Android Weighs In

I got to play with a prototype of this phone through a local carrier. Very slick and yes the camera is way better and easier to use than my iPhone 4. Phone was running ICS and was insanely fast with the dual core processors. Any word on Jellybean?

Re: In Race to Beat iPhone, One Android Weighs In

T-Mobile has stated that the phone unit that you reviewed isn't provisioned yet for HSPA+ 42, and that by the time consumers get them tomorrow, they'll all be operating at full speed.

Re: A Kindle Swipes Fine, but Still Hooked on a Nook

Amazon is no longer the leader in the ebook market. B&N's library has succeeded what Amazon's hoped to be. In regards to Kindle Singles, B&N has the same thing, only they call them Pubit! Books, Nook Firsts, Nook Snaps, etc. Nowhere on the Amazon eBook store will you find "Largest eBook Store" because it's NOT. B&N's website proudly says "The World's Largest Bookstore-Over 2.5 Million Books To Love," and they say that, because they actually can, unlike Amazon. Plus, they have the largest selection of magazines, comics, children's books, and newspapers. So now, according to your logic, every article about the Nook Simple Touch should start with: "if you are willing forgo Barnes & Noble's content and risk not being able to get certain ebooks, then...."

Re: Sketching Out a Future for the Stylus

Have you tried to draw or paint, with your finger?
Do your kids use the iwrite app, helping to teach them how to write, through game play? They certainly wont be writing the alphabet in kindergaten with their fingers. When we're on a long trip, and my 2.5 year old is sitting in the backseat learning how to write her letters correctly, and enjoying it. She's learning to write, with a pen, that isnt also writing all over my seats... As a parent, I think its a wonderful thing.
